Company History

Wensley Roofing was set up in 1987. The first business premises were in Washington, but in 1999 Wensley Roofing moved to the site that it still occupies in Chester-le-Street, County Durham.

Since it was founded, the business has grown steadily and in 1997 it became a company limited by shares.

In 2000, Wensley Roofing was awarded Investor in People status, making it the first slating/tiling company in the North of England to receive the prestigious award. It has since successfully completed two award reviews.

In 2001, the company achieved the quality standard required to become a member of the Lead Contractors Association (LCA). Wensley Roofing is one of just two companies in the North East of England that can provide top quality lead work backed by the LCA 25-year guarantee.

In 2006 Wensley Roofing became part of the Northern Bear group.
